What to Do When the Binance App Displays the Wrong Balance? 4 Scenarios to Determine

Common reasons for the Binance App asset page displaying a balance different from the actual amount: cache delays, valuation coin switches, unfulfilled order holds, and on-chain deposits not yet credited.

When you open Binance and find the asset numbers are wrong — don't panic, it's mostly a display issue. This article provides methods to determine the cause across 4 scenarios. Download entry: Binance Website, mobile Binance Official App, if you don't have the App on iOS, see the iOS Install Guide.

1. 4 Scenarios Quick Check

ScenarioTypical SymptomSolution
Cache delayNumbers change when pulling down to refreshPull down to refresh again
Valuation coin switchedDisplayed number size is drastically differentCheck the USD/BTC toggle in the top right
Order holdAvailable < Total balanceCheck open orders and frozen assets
Genuine anomalyTransfers out do not add upCheck transaction history

2. Cache Delay

The most common issue. The Binance App asset page caches for a few seconds. Pulling down to refresh or killing the process and restarting usually fixes it.

If it's still incorrect after a restart, check if Binance services are undergoing maintenance (on the announcements page).

3. Valuation Coin Switch

In the top right corner of the asset page, you can switch the coin used for valuation:

  • USD (US Dollar)
  • USDT (Almost 1:1 with USD, but with minor differences)
  • BTC (Bitcoin)
  • ETH (Ethereum)
  • BNB

When switched to BTC valuation, the number will be much smaller (divided by the BTC price). Verify the unit before making judgments.

4. Order and Frozen Asset Holds

Assets are divided into three parts:

  • Available: Can be used directly.
  • Frozen: Currently in open orders or restricted.
  • Total Balance: Available + Frozen.

Beginners often ignore frozen assets and think they are "missing some money" when it is actually held by an open order.

Checking Frozen Asset Details

On the asset page, tap the coin → Details → Look for the source of the freeze:

  • Spot open orders
  • Margin lending
  • Futures margin
  • Earn subscriptions
  • Mid-swap

Check them one by one.

5. On-Chain Deposit Not Yet Credited

Deposits require on-chain confirmations. For instance, USDT-TRC20 usually takes 19 block confirmations to be credited.

Checking Deposit Progress

Asset page → Deposit History → Find the corresponding order. Statuses:

  • Pending Confirmation: Currently being confirmed on-chain.
  • Credited: Available.
  • Rejected: Wrong chain selected or blocked by risk control.

What if I selected the wrong chain?

If you selected the wrong chain when depositing (e.g., depositing USDT-ERC20 to a TRC20 address), the assets might be lost. You will need to contact customer service to initiate a "recovery" process, which sometimes incurs a fee.

6. Genuine Asset Anomaly

If all the above are ruled out:

1. Check Transaction History

Order History → All. See if there are orders you did not place.

2. Check API Logs

API Management → Operation Logs. See if an API has been used by someone else to make massive trades.

3. Check Withdrawal Records

Deposit/Withdrawal History → Withdrawals. If there are unrecognized withdrawals, the account has been compromised.

4. Immediate Emergency Action

Follow the compromised account emergency process: change the password, delete APIs, change 2FA, check devices, and contact customer service.

7. Regular Reconciliation

It is recommended to do this once a week:

  1. Take a screenshot of the asset page.
  2. Compare it with the profits and losses in the "Transaction History" over the past week.
  3. Starting balance + Net inflow + PNL = Ending balance (roughly).
  4. If the discrepancy exceeds expectations, investigate deeply immediately.

FAQ

Q1: The App display is inconsistent with the desktop client? Pull down to refresh both. If they are still inconsistent, send screenshots to customer service.

Q2: Why are deposits so slow? On-chain confirmation is slow. BTC usually takes 30 minutes, TRC20 takes a few minutes, and ETH depends on gas fees.

Q3: Where is the money from Earn subscriptions displayed? Under the "Earn" tab on the asset page. You can check the progress in "Subscribing".

Q4: Why did the balance change in a second after a Swap? Swaps are executed instantly, and assets are updated at the second level. This is normal.
