Due to the "Pure Mode" feature of the HarmonyOS system, the Huawei Mate / Pura / nova series requires an extra step to install Binance compared to other Android phones. This article provides the complete process. First, confirm the entry is safe: download from the Binance website, mobile Binance official app, iOS users see iOS install guide.
1. Special points of the Huawei system
Since Huawei EMUI 11, "Pure Mode" is enabled by default, and all apps not sourced from AppGallery will face double interception:
- First line: System pop-up "For your security"
- Second line: Pure Mode independent confirmation "This app is from an external source and may contain risks"
Standard Android only has the first line. The second is unique to Huawei and requires individual confirmation or temporary disabling.
2. Complete installation process (HarmonyOS 4 / 5)
Step 1: Temporarily turn off Pure Mode
Settings → Security → More security settings → Pure Mode → Turn off. The system will prompt "Turning this off may allow the installation of risky apps", confirm it.
Step 2: Authorize the browser to install external apps
Settings → Security → More security settings → Install external apps → Browser (the app you used to download the APK) → Allow.
Step 3: Download the APK from binance.com
Use a browser (Huawei Browser, Chrome, etc.) to open binance.com → Download page → Android APK. Wait for the download to finish.
Step 4: Verify the signature
Follow the process in our site's "APK Signature Verification" article to compare the SHA-256 and signature fingerprint. This step is especially critical on Huawei — because AppGallery does not list Binance, there are many fake Huawei-specific packages on the market.
Step 5: Install
File Manager → Find the APK → Tap install. During this, two to three confirmations will pop up; tap "Continue" for each.
Step 6: Restore Pure Mode
After installing, go back to Settings → Security → Turn Pure Mode back on. The already-installed Binance app will not be uninstalled; Pure Mode only affects new installations.
3. Risks of "Binance" on AppGallery
If you open AppGallery and search for Binance, you will see apps labeled "simulated trading" or "crypto prices"; none of these are the official Binance. Identification points:
| Checkpoint | Genuine or Fake |
|---|---|
| Developer: Binance Holdings Limited | Genuine |
| Developer: Personal name / Chinese company | Fake |
| Downloads: Tens of millions | Genuine (in 2026 Huawei won't have this scale since it's not listed) |
| Downloads: Thousands/Hundreds | Fake (repackaged app) |
In reality, the official Binance is not listed on Huawei AppGallery, so any "Binance" found in AppGallery is not official.
4. Verification after installation
Open the Binance App, tap the profile icon in the top left, and enter the "About" page:
- App name: Binance
- Version number: Matches the website download page
- Package name (check in system app management):
com.binance.dev
All three must match before you log into your account.
5. Stability recommendations for Huawei models
1. Avoid excessive power-saving policies
Huawei's power-saving strategy is aggressive, and the Binance app is easily killed in the background. Settings → Battery → Launch → Find Binance → Change to "Manage manually" and allow running in the background. Otherwise, you won't receive push notifications.
2. Turn off GPU Turbo / Performance Mode
On some models, game performance mode restricts background network access. Binance might experience delays during high-frequency market queries; just turn it off.
3. Disable data traffic limits
Settings → Apps → Binance → Data usage → Enable both WLAN and Mobile data. Otherwise, market data might not update after the screen is locked.
6. Older Huawei models overseas with GMS
Pre-2019 models like P20 / Mate 20 still have full GMS and can opt for the Play Store version (refer to our APK vs Play article). However, EMUI 9 has stopped updating Play Services, so relying on this long-term is not recommended.
FAQ
Q1: Can I install it without turning off Pure Mode? Theoretically, you can bypass it with "Allow once", but you have to tap 3-5 confirmations for each install; it's better to turn it off temporarily. Restore it after installation.
Q2: Is the "crypto app" in the Huawei store Binance? No. Huawei AppGallery does not have the official Binance listed. Anything advertising as "official Binance" is a fake.
Q3: Will the installed Binance be uninstalled after Pure Mode is turned on? No. Pure Mode only intercepts during new installations and has no effect on already installed apps.
Q4: What if I don't receive Huawei push notifications overseas? Huawei Push (HMS Push) and Binance's own push both require background permissions. If neither works, it is recommended to use email + SMS notifications as a fallback.
